This privacy policy explains how jensdufour.be (“the site”) collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you visit.
Who we are
Our website address is: https://jensdufour.be. The site is operated by Jens Du Four, based in Belgium. For any privacy-related questions, you can reach me at jensdufour@outlook.com.
What data we collect and why
Analytics (Google Analytics via Google Tag Manager)
This site uses Google Analytics (loaded via Google Tag Manager, ID GT-TNF9L36X) to understand how visitors use the site, such as which pages are visited, how long visitors stay, and which countries visitors come from. Google Analytics sets cookies on your device to collect this data.
Legal basis: Your explicit consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). Analytics cookies are only set after you click “Accept” on the cookie consent banner. If you reject or ignore the banner, no analytics cookies are set and no data is sent to Google.
You can learn more about how Google processes data in the Google Privacy Policy.
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form (name, email, website, comment text), as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection.
Legal basis: Legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)) for spam prevention; consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)) for the optional cookie that stores your name, email, and website for future comments.
Spam detection (Akismet)
Visitor comments are checked through Akismet, an automated spam detection service operated by Automattic. The information sent to Akismet typically includes the commenter’s IP address, user agent, referrer, site URL, name, email address, and the comment content. You can read the Akismet Privacy Policy for details on how they handle this data.
Legal basis: Legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)) in preventing spam.
Embedded content
Articles on this site may include embedded content from other websites (e.g. videos, images, scripts). In particular, the Speaking page loads an embed from Sessionize to display upcoming and past speaking engagements. Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if you visited that website directly. These websites may collect data about you, set cookies, and track your interaction with the embedded content.
Legal basis: Legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)) in displaying relevant content.
Contact and direct communication
If you contact me via email, the personal data you provide (name, email address, message content) is used only to respond to your inquiry.
Legal basis: Legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)) in responding to communications.

How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely so we can recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
